Summer Fashion Trends (and where to buy them)

Hey you! It's time to start shopping for our hot girl summer outfits! I'm breaking down some outfit trend predictions for this summer! Some of these looks we've seen during the spring but are going to stick around for the summer. I like most of these outfit trends because they're casual looks that you can wear all summer for different occasions.

Disclaimer: I'm just a woman who's getting more and more excited about fashion. I love sharing my opinion, and I love hearing what you guys think too! (So make sure to leave me your comments below) These "trends" are merely my opinions and are subject to debate. Now, let's look at some summer 2021 fashion trends!

Oversized Mom Shorts

Longer mom shorts are here to stay. We've seen this look before on models like Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber. I know, it's annoying that Gen Z says skinny jeans are out, and now they're saying these strange long mom shorts are in. But honestly, I'm here for this trend. Anyone else tired of shorts that ride up when you walk? Me too, girl. But I can never find jean shorts that are long enough, until now. I already know a ton of people are going to say, "I can't wear these cause my thighs are too big." First, what the heck, girl. Stop right there; you should wear whatever makes you happy and feel good inside. Secondly, If you go for more of an oversized look, it will most likely make your legs look smaller.

Another important thing I wanted to note is that these oversized mom shorts and Bermuda shorts are not the same! Please do not be confused! And please do not buy Bermuda shorts. To me, the differences are that Bermuda shorts are much longer than "mom shorts." Secondly, Bermuda shorts are almost always tight on your legs, and these should not be glued to your legs. They should be like the title says, oversized. Fashion NovaPrincess Polly, and Nordstrom are selling shorts similar to the ones above!

Terry Cloth Sets

We saw a lot of celebrities wearing terry cloth sets at the end of last summer. And they will still be around this summer. The three-piece set that Hailey Bieber is wearing has sold out and restocked three times! I'm not sure how I feel about a terry cloth bikini, but I think the shorts and button-up set are super cute. This is a fun look for the beach or just lying around! If you're not sure what terry cloth is or what it feels like. It's a material that absorbs water (basically, it's a towel-like material.) Surprisingly though, I've felt a few terry cloth sets in person, and they were a lot softer than a regular bath towel. Frankies Bikinis has really helped push the terry cloth trend. However, their sets are $150. No shame if you spend that much on a set. Treat yourself, girl! But if you're looking for something a little more affordable, I've seen sets sold at places like Forever 21, Asos, and Pacsun.

Halter Tops

Halter tops are in, baby. Not to say that they ever went out of style. But they are hot and heavy in 2021 summer clothes. Specifically, halter tops that tie around the waist (like in image three). If you're ever leery about buying something trendy, in fear that it will go out of style and you will have wasted your money. This is my advice. When I want to buy trendy things, I will almost always try to buy the cheaper option. If I can find it at Forever 21 and at Nordstrom. I'm usually always going with Forever 21. Because then if I don't want to wear that piece of clothing in a year or two. I won't feel like I wasted all my money on something I don't wear. My second piece of advice is to buy a piece of clothing in a neutral or solid color. A lot of times, things look dated because of the pattern. But regardless, I believe that halter tops will always be in style. They might be more popular right now, but I'm positive people will still be wearing this style top for years. You can find halter tops in many stores, but I found some cool ones, similar to the ones above at Prince, Resurrection, and Motel Rocks.

These 60's inspired designs started trending this spring because of florals and pastels (duh.) They are the perfect spring vibe, but they will stay through the summer—lucky us. Patterns can be intimidating to style, but they will always look good with basics or similar colors for a monochrome outfit. Before you buy something brand new, go check your local thrift store! You might not be able to find these specific patterns but odds are you will find something similar. If thrifting isn't your thing, I suggest looking at places like AmazonShein, or Pretty Little Thing.
